Simonds and U-Connect are two distinct schools located in the Langley School District (SD 35). Simonds and U-Connect are located in the South Langley area of Brookswood, a family oriented community in Langley, B.C. Both of these schools operate in the same building and while each has it’s own educational visions, our philosophy at Simonds and U-Connect is that we are all part of a larger community of learners. Our different educational visions provide opportunities that few schools are able to offer.

U-Connect is a Langley School District K-12 School whose blended learning focus enables students to attend school 2-3 days per week, while working at home with a parent when not at school (for K-7) or through online courses under the guidance of Langley School District Teachers. Flexible and personalized, U-Connect offers a wide array of blended and online courses and learning opportunities.

Simonds Elementary is a vibrant community school for Kindergarten to Grade Five that feeds into HD Stafford Middle School. The school was opened in 1959 with two classrooms and an office at 20190 – 48 Avenue and has had numerous expansions over the years. In addition to sharing its site with U-Connect, a K-12 blended and online learning school, it hosts a StrongStart program and the Buttons and Bows daycare and preschool. Simonds Elementary School feeds into H.D. Stafford Middle School for grades 6-8 and is part of the Langley Secondary School family of schools. The school was originally named for Simonds Road which has its origins from Thomas Simonds who farmed west of Murray’s Corners on 48 Avenue from 1891 to 1917. Simonds Road was named for his son Hazelette (Hazy), who was killed at Vimy Ridge in 1917.

The P.A.C. and parent community of both of these schools are involved and supportive and work well in conjunction with the staff with the shared goal of student success.

Simonds Elementary School current has 160 students in Kindergarten to Grade 5 in eight divisions. U-Connect also has 160 students in grade K-12. Our school mottos are: “Be Kind” and “Doing whatever it takes for students to succeed”, but we also follow the philosophy of providing hope and opportunity to enable our students to better find their purpose.
