Welcome to Simonds Elementary!
Simonds Elementary is a vibrant community school for Kindergarten to Grade Five that feeds into HD Stafford Middle School. The school was opened in 1959 with two classrooms and an office at 20190 – 48 Avenue and has had numerous expansions over the years.
The school is named for Simonds Road which has its origins from Thomas Simonds who farmed west of Murray’s Corners on 48 Avenue from 1891 to 1917. Simonds Road (48 from 208 – 216) was named for his son Hazelette (Hazy), who was killed at Vimy Ridge in 1917.
Simonds Elementary currently shares its site with UConnect, a K-12 blended and online learning school, StrongStart and Buttons and Bows daycare and preschool.
